“Star Wars Cake. Need I say more. The interesting thing about this is that is the simplicity. A fairly straight forward idea, executed brilliantly (assuming the thing was edible), a perfect prop for photography that appeals to an already establish online social community (read fanatical fan base). Everyone likes cake, everyone (should) like(s) Star Wars – perfect. Yes I know that this is the second star wars reference in two weeks and there was a third (the VW ad) but it was vetoed. Next week, Star Wars free I promise.” – Jon “Now this is how you orchestrate a flash mob. Interestingly this ad was banned in a lot of countries.” – Kelly “Faking the news is a risky move but it turned out pretty well for these guys.” – Kelly
Hi there! Please find below some interesting examples from the wonderful worlds of PR, Marketing and Advertising. Enjoy! This caught my attention a) because I am a geek and b) because it, for me, is a romantic return to an old school idea of PR, that simply putting on a good show will garner you attention. It shouldn’t work. Star Wars is an old property, flash mobs have been done to death, when you run the numbers there is no getting away from the fact that it would have been expensive to execute and yet, for me, it is greatness. It has that viral capacity and for the audience they were after that is gold. Build it and they will come. Wonderbra have taken a little play on words and turned it into a very effective stunt. Check these extreme girls out as they take ‘the plunge.’ A Nice feel good story to kick the year off. Watch this small town guy receive quite the Thank-You from Honda.
